That's Amour!
Little Luxuries for Valentine's Day
You’ve probably seen it – the red and pink decorations with candy, and hearts in every form dappled throughout the stores you frequent. Valentine's Day is a wonderful reminder to freshen our wardrobe with bold colors and pretty little things as we emerge from the chrysalis of January and embrace more “amour” into our lives. Many designers this year have debuted looks with the theme of love that can start with the magic of the holiday, but can sprinkle into the everyday.
LA-based Sydney Evan, a household name by now, has finessed the art of peppering “love” into almost all of her pieces. Her signature “love” script put her on the map and this beautiful message is carried into the Love Ring, which I plan on wearing daily and certainly with other gold bands in my jewelry collection. Her message is “Be Love. Wear Love. Share Love.” and her pieces emulate this in spades (and hearts, and diamonds.) And her charms are what dreams are made of. The Gold and Diamond Love Charm also invites endless layering opportunities with other necklaces bold and dainty alike - elevating looks to a new level. On theme with the idea of wearing Sydney Evan every day, her Tiny Heart Studs are right in line with the holiday and are the perfect size. Everyone from Rihanna to Jennifer Lawrence has been seen wearing this designer on and off the red carpet, and we see why.
Jewelry designer Zofia Day is known for her “wearable art” inspired by her grandmother – a true ode to generational themes we’re seeing more in jewelry this year. Her aesthetic embodies both elegance and a raw nature. In the Petite Oval Ruby Shaker Charm, the magenta rubies move around freely within their yellow gold case creating a sparkly effect as the wearer moves. It’s incredibly unique and graceful – a new take on the classic gem. This year, I plan on giving this to my sister for the holiday (shh don’t tell!).
Clothing is also fun for this holiday. PJs are a stellar GNI (“Girls Night In”) option, and the limited edition Katie Kime Amour Set could not be more ideal for this occasion. The colorful hearts are so cheery I can’t handle it. My other favorite item that’s popped up is Re/Done’s latest graphic tee with the age-old question “How’s your Love Life?” aptly paired with a cupid. It made me laugh out loud the first time I laid eyes on it, and it continues to have that effect. It’s kitschy, funny, and a flattering cut. In keeping with my love of graphics, 27 Miles “Love” cashmere sweater is so soft and keeps the theme of seeping “amour” into the everyday. It’s a subtle nod to the holiday in a color outside of the quintessential pink and red theme. However, if I’m seeking a date-night classic, whether it’s wine-tasting with a friend or a bar hop with a new beau, this white satin Amina Rubinacci shirt from Italy is a go-to. I know I’ve mentioned button-downs before, but this shirt drapes just so and is the end-all-be-all of sexy, timeless blouses.
Valentine’s Day is a fun time – people exchange chocolates, roses, and jewelry, but most importantly use it as an opportunity to express their love to one another. It’s a fun way to embrace more color and treat myself to pretty little things I’ll wear all year. Let the love shine for the holiday and for every day.
Until next time,
