A Few of My Favorite Things

The time has come – the faint jingling in commercials, twinkling lights shimmering in local shops, and family members chatting about their wish lists. Winter is coming and with it, trends for frosty temps, and holiday festivities ahead. As I glide into the magical, albeit busy season, I’ve found some favorites that’ll keep me warm AND cute. Yes – it’s possible.
Coats, coats, coats. They are one of my favorite items to buy. Different silhouettes are everywhere this holiday season, and this winter is the time to try all these shapes. “Texture play” is all the rage like with this Faux Fur hooded Herno coat. Its color matches this season’s tonal trends, and its super-soft feel helps levitate the coat to the coziest piece in the wardrobe. Its relaxed shape, yet luxury look keeps it in regular rotation. However, for dressier events, a longer coat is always a good idea. Italian designer Liviana Conti’s goose down satin coat is so light and airy, and the dreamy quilted fabric feels so luxurious and warm. Plus, the pop of persimmon adds a cheery zest to these darker days. For a bit of drama this season, Forte Forte’s black crushed velvet duster is a jaw-dropper, and I plan on wearing it to at least half of the occasions I have in December. It’s not just a night-time staple either. I’m going to throw this stunning beauty over a sweater, jeans and sneakers when I need to add some glam to my #ootd.
Sweaters. The theme of “texture play” isn’t just for coats – sweaters are having a tactile moment as well. Between fisherman crochet, to shimmery foiled ombre, to brushed cashmere, each textured sweater has found its purpose and style in my closet. Frame’s cropped cardigan is a polished twist on a fisherman crochet with gold-button details and pom poms on the flattering v-neck add a whimsical touch. This winter white cardi can be paired with a trouser or casual jeans. This time of year is also a chance to flex this year’s “it” color: cherry red. Combine that with some textured crochet and pointelle detailing and you have the PERFECT holiday sweater by Rails. This time of year is also an opportunity to bring out all the sparkly, razzle-dazzle pieces. Amina Rubinacci’s ability to cover a sweater in sparkle AND keep it tasteful is no easy feat, and this sweater is no exception. It’s sparkly enough to wear on various occasions, but pair it with some wide leg jeans and booties, and it’s something you can wear year round.
Accessories: Winter accessories are tapping into a playful side this season. These fingerless gloves by Apparis are the perfect way to add glam to a look. The brand, known for its faux fur pieces, became an overnight sensation after the co-founders promoted their sustainable, ethical practices. Those qualities combined with their unbelievably soft accessories have created a powerhouse combo of soft and show-stopping. All of their accessories are warm and sprinkle a little holiday zest to my capsule outfits. Another beloved item I’m carrying around is my Pierre-Louis Mascia velvet wrap/scarf. Their most recent designs are inspired by botanical beauty and luminescent qualities, and you can feel this in everything they create. I saved my favorite for last – the Grevi Paillette beanie. Normally I use beanies for function when getting groceries or walking the dog, and this beanie is the ideal spunky kick. It adds a festive touch to a cocktail dress for a night out or a quick trip to the store. The glitz adds personality to any outfit and is slowly becoming a fun (and functional) cold weather companion.
These styles are a great way to warm up and chill out for all the holiday festivities headed our way. Faux fur, sequins, cherry red, oh my! These finds are only a few of my favorite things to kick off the holiday season.
Until next time,
