Sail into Sunnier Weather with
Colorful Resort Wear
While many people are thinking about resolutions this time of year, yours truly dreams of the next warm-weather trip! It’s a trip I plan every year to give me a nice little window of sunshine between January and March. And bonus? Wearing clothes that show off all those parts that have been hiding under winter layers. The freedom of slipping into fresh, lightweight outfits can lift the spirits. Whether I'm off to Palm Springs, Ft. Lauderdale, or somewhere outside the U.S. like Mexico or Spain, it’s a well-deserved respite to help rejuvenate the mind and body. It’s also an opportunity to buy some vibrant colors and breezy fabrics to offer a sharp contrast to the drab weather, refreshing my wardrobe and mindset.
My absolute go-to piece of clothing when traveling is ALWAYS a button-down. It can be an airplane layer, a cute blouse when out to dinner, or a swimsuit cover-up. While many renditions fill my closet, Xirena’s Beau in four-leaf clover green is a soft, lightweight cotton take. And the best way to add a personal touch? Some dainty, layered jewelry. It adds an understated elegance to my swimwear or button-down. Speaking of, my good luck charm when I fly is the Sydney Evan Airplane necklace. It reminds me of my adventurous spirit and is just delicate enough to layer it with other pieces. Another vacation hero? The crisp cotton Piper Pant in sage/white. Perfect for when I’m sticky with sunscreen, a little sandy, and in no mood to put on “real clothes” while emulating the easy, breezy California look. Their versatile style, and tissue-light feel, easily transition from casual daywear to evening outings, making them a vacation wardrobe essential. To complete the look, and carry anything from my giant tube of sunscreen to my lipstick, the Mansur Gavriel Fortuna Bag in Biscotto holds it all with a fun and slouchy silhouette.
Vacation ensembles give us freedom to look different than our day-to-day selves, and allow us to embrace different pieces. Nothing makes me feel like I’ve been transported to paradise like this watercolor motif Maria Cher top/maxi skirt combo. The pastel tones add a dreamy touch to the wardrobe, and the silky feel is so fluid and pretty that I might end up wearing the top or skirt every day of the trip. Maria Cher is known for a vision that follows the “easy yet extraordinary” credo, and this parchment-like set does just that. To elevate this watercolor look, I’m carrying the Wandler Penelope Bag in Rose Crust (or perfect pink in my book). Worn as a shoulder or crossbody bag (adjustable up to 6 different lengths!), it's the ideal vacation companion. Another vacation favorite? These grey mabé pearl earrings by Chan Luu. Their statement shape and iridescent hue tie the look together perfectly creating a breezy ocean-side grace.
2024 had some fashion trend surprises, and one I loved is the rise and return of the Bermuda short. They’re way more versatile than their micro counterparts, and look wonderful in a high-waisted style like these Sailor Fiorettas by Akris Punto. This particular pair looks high-end yet maintains breathability and can be paired with just a bikini top, a button-down (see above), or a novelty top from the Akris Punto 2025 Cruise collection like the short-sleeved Sailboat Jacket. It captures the whimsical freedom of a maritime summer look, and the denim pairing allows for a casual yet stylish day by the sea. To add crisp lines and cropped style, Mansur Gavriel’s Gaia Shoulder bag tucks under the arm perfectly with its sleek and slender cut. These Sydney Evan diamond and enamel turquoise huggies tie the coastal vibe together. Both turquoise and sailboats have a nautical feel, and these earrings provide just the right amount of shine and movement while maintaining the outfit’s laid-back, nautical spirit.
One of my resolutions this year is to travel more – travel has been known to expand your mind, calm the spirits, and teach us a lot about ourselves. Another perk? An excuse to find a new, fun wardrobe for the much-deserved trip. Can’t wait to see what 2025 has to offer!
Until next time,
